The Voice Assistant technology reads all actions to the customer aloud, making ATMs accessible to people with visual impairments.
As early as 2017, RENOME SMART developed and implemented a voice assistant solution for ATMs of one of the largest Ukrainian banks. Thanks to it, people with visual impairments, dyslexia, and blindness can independently use cash withdrawal devices.
“People with visual impairments (and not only) can connect headphones to listen to options and carry out their transactions. Previously, it was difficult for them to access their own funds at an ATM without external assistance,” comments Alexander Gogsadze, banking account manager at RENOME SMART. 一 “Voice Assistant is easy to configure and can be used practically for all ATM models. We hope our technology will contribute to the inclusivity of banking services and the creation of equal opportunities for all Ukrainians.”
Voice Assistant is activated by pressing a designated key on the keyboard: contrasting interface – white text on a black background. After connecting the headset, all subsequent actions are voiced: cash withdrawal transactions; account balance; selection of transaction type; placement of card reader, receipt printer, cash dispenser, etc. It is important to note that the audio accompaniment is generated by a speech synthesizer.
The company is convinced that the implementation of Voice Assistant will help banking institutions take the first step towards accessibility. And this is a much broader concept, especially in times of war, which should take into account the individual characteristics of different groups of people. Currently, the RENOME SMART team is working on updating the solution and scaling it up.
