On May 31, a project pitching session was held for students of the National University “Ostroh Academy” (NUOA). It marked the final part of the pre-acceleration program called DigitalLAB, which lasted for seven weeks. The session consisted of two parts: presentations and jury evaluation.
During the first part, each team presented their own ideas:
Solution for Dormitories. The team members who worked on this project were Khrystyna Krymchuk, Viktoriia Cherevko, Andrii Nechyporuk, Vadym Verba, Maksym Matviichuk, and Daryna Mosiichuk.
The process of dormitory accommodation is unclear: it is unknown whether there will be a place, when and under what conditions one can rent a room, how many roommates are there, etc. From the dormitory management side, there is also no straightforward solution that would allow convenient analysis and filtering of data based on specified parameters. Currently, semi-manual systems are used, and information duplication occurs.
Therefore, the students came up with the idea of a unified automated solution that would easily organize information about dormitories for efficient management of accommodation. It would provide students with access to a personal account where they could find up-to-date information about available spaces, application status, payments, and more.
In the second part, the project jury, including Nadiia Hladkevych, (CEO of RENOME SMART) Ivanna Smachylo (Deputy Head of Rivne Regional State Administration), Olha Stepanchenko (Executive Director of the IT Cluster Rivne), and Viacheslav Melnyk (Chairman of the IT Cluster Rivne), asked questions to the participants and evaluated each idea based on relevance, innovation, social importance, business aspects, economic justification, depth of preliminary research, marketing potential, and presentation.
Tourist Portal –The project team consisted of Yuliia Franchuk, Ivanna Nykytiuk, Maksym Bozhko, Mykhailo Zhermolenko, Antonii Shyiko, and Maksym Mokiichuk.
Михайла Жермоленко, Антонія Шийко та Максима Мокійчука.
The team noticed that there is no program or solution allowing tourists plan a trip in Rivne region or at least explore popular historical or tourist sites nearby. Hence, the idea of a unified portal emerged, gathering all the necessary information for visitors, including interesting tourist locations, transportation options, places to relax, restaurants, accommodation booking, and the opportunity to hire or become a guide and propose personalized routes.
Intercity Transport Tracking Application The team members involved
involved in developing this project were Viktor Havryliuk, Nina Zaieva, Anna Pochtaruk, Oleksandra Vorontsova, Anastasiia Polyukhovych, and Nazar Nizamov.
Questions such as whether a specific route is available, at what time, the duration of the journey, the availability of seats for passengers and luggage often concern public transport users, especially for intercity connections. Therefore, the third team attempted to solve this problem by automating the process. They developed a convenient mobile application and installed GPS trackers on intercity taxis.
Based on the voting results, with a slight lead, the team working on the application for tracking intercity transport emerged as the winner.
Why are such projects important?
Ukrainian IT companies primarily do not create ready-made products but rather work on outsourcing, simply writing code upon request. In contrast, RENOME SMART is one of the few product companies engaged in the development of IT products and holds copyrights. We reckon that it is necessary to cultivate an entrepreneurial culture and the creation of ready-made digital solutions among young people. Moreover, there is a strong need for the digitization of services and everyday services used by
Ukrainians.
The pre-acceleration program DigitalLAB, initiated by RENOME SMART in 2021, allows young people to try creating their own digital product and acquire the necessary knowledge for its construction and development. On the other hand, the community can benefit from an interesting prototype or a ready-made solution for digitizing one of the areas of life. An example of such a solution was the idea of “eParking,” a digital product proposed by students from the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering. Although it did not continue as an implementation, it managed to raise the issue and stimulate public discussions and community development.
What’s next
The company plans to continue its collaboration with students from Rivne and launch the next stream of the program this autumn. Details and registration will be announced on the RENOME SMART website.
