On November 27, RENOME Group employees attended a training on “Features of communicating with the military.” In the first block of the event, Tetyana Zhemga, coordinator of the Atlant-Rivne NGO branch and a psychologist at the Mental Health Center, spoke about the changes that the consciousness of military participants in combat undergoes and how the experience of surviving on the front is transferred to civilian life.
During the next part, participants practiced various scenarios involving communication with the military, including the appropriateness of offering help, responding to irritation, and engaging in frank conversations. They also asked questions and shared their own experience of interacting with defenders.
Tetyana Zhemga also spoke about how to restore the military’s trust in civilians, what clichés it is better not to use (and what are the exceptions), and how to support and behave with military personnel with amputees.
This is an important event that will help to better understand and build more informed communication with defenders.
