Voice assistant for ATMs of the Oschadbank

About the client

Oschadbank is a Ukrainian state bank, the second largest in terms of assets and the largest number of branches among all Ukrainian banks. As of July 1, 2023, the national banking service network of Oschadbank includes about 1,183 branches, almost 2,790 ATMs, and 2,555 payment terminals. More than 60,000 commercial POS terminals are connected to the bank’s processing.

Implemented solution

In 2017, the RENOME SMART team became a technology partner of Oschadbank’s barrier-free program. We have developed a special technology 一 Voice Assistant, a voice assistant for ATMs. The solution was implemented on 27 devices located in inclusive departments of the largest cities of the country.

KEY ADVANTAGE
Voice Assistant creates text prompts, which can be voiced if necessary, and displays them on the ATM screen. It informs about the steps of the transaction to get the cash. It will help you find the necessary devices (card reader, check printer, cash dispenser) and provide clear and simple instructions for their use. It also informs about the availability of cash at the ATM and the balance of the client’s account. Thanks to the solution, visually impaired or blind people can use the ATM without assistance.

WHAT THE CLIENT RECEIVED
The solution is deployed on the already existing fleet of Oschadbank devices and did not require lengthy adjustments and modernization. Available right out of the box, in fact. Thanks to the simplicity of the script and text and/or audio prompts, it makes the ATM accessible to people, regardless of their individual characteristics.

Capabilities

Convenient interface
Traditional interfaces are often overloaded with colorful visual elements, making them difficult for visually impaired people to perceive. We worked on the script, as well as its appearance, leaving the main thing – clear text prompts in a large pin on a black background. Thanks to this, visually impaired customers can easily and quickly perform the necessary operations at the ATM.

Voice accompaniment
In addition to an intuitive interface, the ATM is equipped with audio accompaniment, which is activated after connecting any wired headphones to the device. It duplicates all the messages that appear on the screen. This makes the ATM more accessible to people who are blind or cannot read text content.

Simple operation
Our solution is compatible with most Diebold Nixdorf ATMs and can be easily customized according to the bank’s needs. Thanks to the ease of installation and maintenance, it allows you to start working immediately after implementation.

Inclusive ATMs of Oschadbank are an opportunity for the blind and visually impaired to feel equal and independent. Thanks to voice guidance and special prompts, they can manage their savings without assistance. Unfortunately, due to military aggression, the number of such people in Ukraine continues to grow. We can’t always change this terrible reality, but we can make the world a little more accessible to those who need it.
